Ruy López Nussa
Born in Mexico City in 1957, he discovered the pulse of music early and honed his craft in Havana, Cuba. Since 1977, he has devoted his life to percussion, blending over 40 years of experience with deep musical insight. A graduate in Music, specialized in percussion, he has shared stages with some of the finest artists of our time: Beatriz Márquez, Pedro Luis Ferrer, Santiago Feliú, Yusa, Estado de Ánimo, Ramón Valle, José María Vitier, Ernán López-Nussa, Roberto Fonseca, Elmer Ferrer, and Yasek Manzano, to name a few.
In 2009, he breathed life into his own creation, La Academia, inspired by his book “Ritmos de Cuba”, where performance and pedagogy intertwine seamlessly. A musician and teacher par excellence, his journey and artistry culminate in his latest audiovisual work, “RE-PERCUSION-ES”, capturing the essence of a life devoted to rhythm, sound, and soul.
